AMC St. John 2003 -- Week 2 Part B

Day 11, Friday February 14 ~ Valentine's Day;
Fortsburg and Haulover

We first went to Fortsberg which is on private land just beyond Coral Bay. Here we walked to various ruins of fortifications and what was Fort Frederiksvaern. This fort is listed in the National Registry of Historic Sites and dates back to the 1720s. Then we went to Haulover for lunch, swimming and snorkeling. The south side didn't look too interesting so most of our time was spent on the north side of Haulover. At 3:30 everyone gathered to celebrate Don and Lois' 44th anniversary. Then there was the weekly Manager's Party at the T'Ree Lizards Restaurant.

Day 12, Saturday February 15 ~ Bordeaux Mountain and Lameshure Bay The group split in two today. The early birds drove up Centerline Road to near Bordeaux Mountain. They then hiked up to the highest point of St. John and to a spot with a view of Coral Bay. Then they followed a trail down to Lameshure Bay. Others had a late start and drove over to Lameshure Bay. The two groups met around noon and went snorkeling after lunch. That evening many went to either the Westin or to Skinny Legs for supper and entertainment.	View of Coral Bay from Bordeaux Mountain
