St. John 2003 Week 1 Part B

Day 3, Thursday February 6 ~ Hike to Cruz Bay

The vehicles left camp at 9 for Caneel Bay and the two trailheads. One group led by Lois did a shorter hike along the shoreline. The other led by Don did a longer, steeper, and hotter hike over Margaret and Caneel Hills. Both hikes ended in Cruz Bay near the National Park Service Visitor Center. Some returned to camp to swim and snorkel. Others stayed in town for lunch and shopping. In the late afternoon, the Campground Manager hosted a Manager's party. In the evening there was a performance of the play "Queen Mary."

Day 4, Friday February 7 ~ Leinster/Waterlemon Bay The vehicles left camp at 9 for the Annaberg parking lot. From there we walked along the shore to Leinster/Waterlemon Bay for snorkeling, etc. Everyone brought lunch and lots of sunscreen. Don checked out the trail to the point and to the reformatory on the hill. Myrna and Betty taught the newcomers how to snorkel and most everyone swam to and around Waterlemon Key at least once.
