February 23 - Dunedin

When we awoke in Queenstown it was somewhat gray and overcast.  We went downtown to the bus station where we got on an InterCity bus to Dunedin, the principal city of the Otago region.  The driver didn't say much, the bus was cold, and we made two short stops.  With no comments the bus went past the city central to the bus terminal which was in a warehouse district.  As it was raining we called a taxi to take us to our hotel.

After checking in we wandered the town a bit.  We first went to the Octagon, which is the city centre of Dunedin.  Here are the Municipal Chambers (Dunedin Town Hall) and beyond it St. Paul's Cathedral.

Then we went to the new and contemporary Otago Museum,

which has a lot of Maori objects.

Then we walked through the Otago University campus which has a number of traditional buildings

and also newer more contemporary buildings.

Then and until it started to rain we wandered about the Dunedin Botanical Garden.
