Enroute to County Donegal
We drove through Connemara with views of lakes, mountains, and peat before arriving in the town of Ballina where we stayed overnight in a B&B. The town is on the banks of the River Moy, which is noted for salmon fishing.

On the side of the road was a strange plant.

The next morning we visited the Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery in the center of the Coolera Peninsula near the town of Sligo. There are many stone circles and passage graves here spread over a large area. One of them has been dated to be 7,400 years old.

In the distance atop a hill one can see the Carrowkeel Passage Tomb
Cemetery which dates from 3000 B.C.

Just past Sligo we stopped at what is supposed to be a popular summer resort and beach area called Rosses Point. It was quite windy and the water was rather angry and uninviting.

Just behind the beach was a golf course. The 30-40 mph gusty winds
would make this a rather challenging place to play.

We continued to Harvey's Point Country Hotel on Lough Eske just north of the town of Donegal, where we had an outstanding dinner for Jenni's birthday and where we enjoyed wonderful accommodations for the next three nights.
