County Donegal
On our first day in County Donegal we drove around northern parts of the County and visited Glenveagh National Park. Glenveagh is a narrow valley where John Adair built the Glenveagh Castle on the shore of Lough Beagh about 1870. We walked through the valley to the castle, toured the castle and its beautiful grounds and gardens.

On the next day we went west to the small town of Teileann where we had thoughts of climbing to the top of Slieve League (595m). However, it was again rather gray, the summit was in and out of the clouds and fog and it was very windy. Instead we enjoyed the views that we had.

We stopped in the town of Glencolumbkille to visit Father McDyers Folk Village and Heritage Center where there were several buildings in the form of a tiny village with thatched roofs and one with an open chimney on the inside.

From Glencolumbkille we drove though Glengesh Pass before plunging into the valley below. The road eventually brought us to Ardara a fishing village that is also known for its tweeds and woolens.
