Ring of Kerry
The Ring of Kerry is the name for the small highway that skirts the edges of the Iveragh Pennisula. It is Ireland's most popular scenic drive.
We first stopped just outside Killarney for a view over Lough Leane, Killarney National Park and as seen here the MacGillyicuddy's Reeks, the mountain range that includes Carrauntoohil (1039m, on the left), Ireland's highest mountain.

Our next stop was at a small preserved farming village where the collecting, drying and use of peat as a fuel could be seen.

Then we stopped at a sheep farm to learn about the many different kinds of sheep and to see an amazing demonstration of how border collies work as sheep dogs.

We passed many "fields" where peat was being harvested and dried and also lots of pretty cotton grass.

These views from Ladies' View of the Gap of Dunloe and Killarney National Park were much better than yesterday's.
